Overview
Music Monitor is a database solution built on the FileMaker platform. Learning to use Music Monitor involves learning the basic functions of FileMaker, as well as the layouts, structure and scripts inside Music Monitor itself.

Home Screen
The Home Screen has some options that are not available on the other screens.
Change to Teacher View
Select this button and then select a teacher from your Staff list.
The Home Screen will change to the simplified one that teachers see.
You will see the selected teacher's rolls, students, etc.
Note that you are still logged in as yourself and there are places where your permissions still allow things that teachers themselves cannot do.
Navigation Map
This takes you to a system diagram that shows the connections between files in Music Monitor.
Each file listed is also a link to navigate to that file.
Information Icon
Select this icon to see basic information about your Music Monitor system - what versions of the software are running, what account and privilege set you're logged in with, etc.
*New in 2026*! From version 10.005, it also shows how many users are currently logged in.
Common Tasks
In fact there is a link to Common Tasks at the bottom of most screens, but the Home Screen has this main icon. Common Tasks is a directory of scripts to run processes that you will use.
Navigation Bar
At the top of most layouts is the Navigation Bar. This contains standard navigation and search options as well as some contextual buttons.
At the left end of the Navigation Bar are forward and back buttons which will change which record is selected. Next to that is the number of records in the 'found set' and the number of records in total. (displayed as x/x).
The Navigation Bar also has buttons to Show All records, switch to Find mode, and to Sort records.
