Migrating to Our Hosting

What's involved in moving your self-hosted Music Monitor file to the hosting we provide.

Overview

This applies to existing customers who are self-hosting their Music Monitor file. If you are only at the stage of considering Music Monitor, and don't yet have a subscription, all your options will include hosting as part of the package and you will be on our servers from the outset, so this does not apply.

There are great advantages to moving your Music Monitor file to a server we run. We manage all aspects of the server - hardware, software, security, backups. It also makes it much quicker and easier for us to support you when you need it.

Moving forward, we're going to need everyone to be on our servers to receive the full service that we can offer, which will involve much more frequent updates so you're getting the new features sooner.

The servers are all located in Australia, usually in Melbourne or Sydney if that's near you. See https://www.musicmonitor.com.au/cloud-hosting.html for more detail on the hosting arrangements.

Cost

The hosting service is an annual subscription. Your first invoice may be adjusted pro rata to bring the renewal date into line with your regular Music Monitor renewal. Thereafter, the hosting cost will be billed at the same time as your Music Monitor subscription.

There is no additional cost for the migration process.

The Process

The general process for migration goes like this:

  • You confirm that you'd like to go ahead

  • We set up a server for you with FileMaker server installed

  • You advise us if you'd like a particular CNAME to direct to your server or are happy to use the one we provide (usually [your school]-musicmonitor.com.au)

  • We agree a date and time to migrate

  • We connect remotely to your current server

  • We take your Music Monitor file offline and upload the file to your new server

  • We advise you the new connection details

  • All your users need to reconnect to the new file location or use the new URL we provide

Total downtime is usually around 30 minutes.
