Method for Casual Students

How to manage a tuition enrolment in Music Monitor when it is uncertain how many lessons the student is expected to receive

Overview

Some students learn on a casual basis instead of a set number of lessons per cycle. These students need to be billed in arrears or even as they take lessons. Below are some suggestions on how best to handle these students.

Technique

Lesson Type

First, it can assist management of casual students to create a unique tuition fee for them (e.g., “Casual 30”). This tuition fee should have a Number of Lessons BP and Number of Lessons RP of '0'.

Billing

For billing, follow this process for Mix Billing Tuition in Advance and Arrears.

Casual students will appear on the rolls each week. Make sure to have a 'No Lesson Scheduled' attendance code or similar. This allows teachers to mark the weeks that no lesson was scheduled as well as those where a lesson was scheduled to take place.
