Overview
This article is addressed to music teachers.
If you need to add a charge to a student (such as for reeds, music books, etc.) you can do so from the roll marking screen, provided your school has enabled this for you.
The navigation is different in the different apps, but the basic process is the same:
Select the student
Select the menu item to add a miscellaneous charge
Enter the details of the charge to be added
Settings
The music administrator can enable or disable this option for teachers.
Go to Home > Settings > General Settings > Teacher Settings
Select "Yes" or "No" on the option that displays the button allowing this.
To make items available for teachers to bill to students, the music administrator must set them up in the Fees file.
Go to Home > Setup Files > Fees > Miscellaneous
To be visible for teachers to select, a fee must have "Music Sundries" as its Account Category
If the option is enabled for teachers, but the items they wish to select are not available, they can type an item directly into the field.
See Manage Fees for more guidance on setting up fees.
Apply a Charge to a Student
In the roll in Teacher View, select the student to open the Attendance record. In that window, select the green Misc Charge button.
In the dialogue window that opens, enter the details of the charge.
Options that have been set up by the music administrator will appear as a drop-down when you select the field. If the option you need is not on the list, you can type text into the field instead.
View the Charge Record
The charge will be sent to Student Accounts as a line item. These can be seen wherever line items can be found (for instance the Accounts tab in the Students file).
This area is generally only visible to music administrators and not to teachers.
