Overview
You or your staff may find, when trying to log into Music Monitor, that they see an error message that says "User limit reached. The number of users currently logged in is the maximum allowed. Please try again later."
Explanation
Your access to Music Monitor is managed by a FileMaker software licence, which specifies a number of users. You don't need a seat on your licence for every staff member, but you do need a seat for every concurrent user. If the maximum number are logged in, other users will need to wait until someone logs out.
How Many Licence Seats Do We Need?
You need a separate seat for each administrative user of Music Monitor.
For your music teachers, we recommend about one seat for every three to five users, depending on how much they use Music Monitor.
If the teachers are only logging in to mark their rolls, they will log in briefly and then usually log out again quickly, leaving seats available for others.
If the teachers are managing their own timetables in Music Monitor as well, they may spend more time logged in, meaning you may need additional seats on your licence.
How to Minimise Licence Usage
Seats are occupied unnecessarily when staff remain logged in after finishing the work they were doing. Music Monitor is set up to log users out automatically after a period of inactivity, but some basic things to keep in mind are:
Don't open Music Monitor in multiple tabs or windows at the same time. Each one takes up a seat on your licence.
Close when finished.
How Can We Get More Seats On Our Licence?
Just get in touch with the Music Monitor team to request the additional seats. We can make them available to you in a fairly short time.
