Attendance Settings

A guide to the settings in Music Monitor that affect Tuition and Ensemble Roll Marking

Settings for attendance are found in two locations in Music Monitor.

General Settings

Most settings for attendance are located in General Settings.

  • Go to the Settings wheel > General Settings > Attendance

  • Link To Ensembles provides a link from the Ensemble listing on the Staff roll, to the Ensemble roll.

  • View Preference provides the option to include or exclude day and time fields from the attendance rolls. "Calendar View" includes this information, and is the standard setting.

  • Automatic Lock Delay sets a timeout after which rolls cannot be edited. This prevents teachers for editing rolls (including attendance marks) well after the time of the lesson has passed.

    • We recommend this be kept short, around 14 days, so that any late roll marking has to be brought to the attention of admin.

  • *New in 2026!* From MM version 10, you can enable New Ensemble Rolls.

    • If you are switching between old and new rolls, please contact the Music Monitor team. Data from one roll is not displayed in the other roll, but we can migrate it across when you make the change.

There are also settings for how teachers interact with attendance.

  • General Settings > Teacher Settings.

  • The Teacher Home Screen checkboxes control whether teachers can access Roll-Marking and Ensemble Rolls.

  • Tuition and Tutor Rolls section contains options for teachers to 'Mark All', add extra ensemble sessions, require a teacher signature on rolls, and to enable the Feedback Module.

  • *New in 2026!* In version 10 you can enable or disable the setting to Prompt teachers to mark last week's unmarked rolls.

    • We recommend you leave this set to "Yes", unless you have reduced the auto-archive time delay on the rolls to only 7 days. In that case, teachers are unable to mark last week's rolls, so disabling this prompt is better.

Settings in Roll-Marking Layout

There are more options you can find when viewing an attendance roll

  • Office Admin > Roll-Marking Tuition > Mark Rolls > Settings wheel

  • Reconciliation Period selects whether the term or year lesson tally is presented to teachers, as well as which column receives highlighting on the administration attendance roll.

  • The Printing Preferences section provides options for the printout produced by Print (the printer icon).

  • The Extra Lessons section provides a button to open and customise the Extra Lessons Email template.

Attendance Codes

The other setup you need to do before you can use roll marking is to Set Up Attendance Codes.
